Using EFT Tapping to Counteract Negative Health Messages Around Obesity

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

It’s difficult to read a newspaper or tune into the daily TV news without reading or hearing yet another dire warning about the health dangers associated with obesity. I’m expecting to see any day now that obesity is the cause of global warming, the rising crime rate and the high price of real estate in Vancouver.

I am not impressed with these endless warnings. I have to put this carefully, because I am not discounting the health concerns that surround obesity. I certainly recognize the health benefits to be realized when we take off the excess pounds.

 But!!!

I believe that we’re going a little over the top with the scare tactics.  Obesity has become the new public enemy and we’re gonna fight it, dammit!

I see a problem with this. Because of my spiritual and philosophical beliefs, I believe that we attract that which we focus on.  Focusing on the occurrences of obesity will increase those numbers. Focusing on the related health dangers will increase the incidents of obesity related health problems.

On the other hand, focusing on fitness and health will increase the occurrences of fitness and health.  I would love to see a newspaper headline that read, “60% of adults are within their ideal weight range,” rather than, “40% of adults are overweight.”  (I’m not claiming these are the correct percentages. I’m just using these as an example.)

Counteracting the Negative Messages

If you are overweight, I strongly suggest you use tools such as the Silva Method or EFT tapping to counteract these negative messages.

Take the pounds off, certainly, but do it by focusing on the positive, not the negative. By meditating or tapping on fitness, ideal weight, good health, etc., you will attract more of those things that you want.

You may want to do some EFT tapping to address the fears and concerns you have around health. “Even though I am worried that I will develop some horrible disease because of my weight, I deeply and completely accept myself.”   After several rounds of that,  proceed to tapping in the positive messages. “I now achieve my ideal body weight. I enjoy good health. I will always maintain a perfectly healthy body and mind.”

And incidentally, if you’d like a little encouraging news for a change, my daily newspaper reported yesterday that when critically ill, fat patients have a better survival rate than slim people. The research was conducted by Dr. Folu Akinnusi, from the University of Buffalo’s Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. There are various theories as to why this is so.

Using the Silva Method to Help Lose Weight

Monday, February 25th, 2008

The Silva Method has a lot to offer if you want to lose weight. First, I’ll explain what it is. To quote from the web site, “The Silva Method is a powerful, life-changing program developed over 50 years ago by Jose Silva.”  Originally, it was called Silva Mind Control but the name is now changed to Silva Method.

Based on scientific research, the Silva Method is a training program that I can only describe as a little like self hypnosis, a little like guided meditations, a little like spirituality, a little like the Law of Attraction and a little like good old fashioned positive thinking.

 The  Silva Method Explained

In short, the training teaches you to reach a deep meditative state quickly and easily. By the end of this training, you can reach alpha level or theta level of brain waves simply by touching three fingers together and counting downwards from three to one. In that meditative state, you program or reprogram your brain to create the results you want.

With the Silva Method, you can relax quickly, fall asleep without the use of sleep aids, awaken at the time you want without use of an alarm clock,  improve your memory, use dreams and other methods to solve problems, change behaviors or break habits, manage or remove pain instantly, increase intuition, develop ESP abilities and heal physical conditions that are troubling you. I have personally had some remarkable health – related results from the Silva Method. I have described those experiences at How to Lose Weight Quickly with the Silva Method

Using the Silva Method to Lose Weight

Among the many other benefits you can expect from the Silva Methods is the ability to “program your mind” to develop an eating pattern that achieves your weight goals, whatever they may be. Personally, I created a Silva Method program to help me achieve my desired weight and maintain it — and to enjoy the healthy, nutritious foods that I now eat.

Availability

The Silva Method is available through a home study course or through live workshops if there is a trainer in your area. Either one works well although I personally prefer the live workshops. Once you have attended a live workshop, you can attend and re-attend as many times as you want for a small fee. If you’re interested in learning more, the Silva Method web site offers a free ebook and audio file to get you started.

I took the Silva Method for the first time in the seventies. I was young at the time and didn’t fully appreciate its power. I re-took the course a year ago. I can now say that I have a complete commitment to practice this amazing method for the rest of my life.

I can’t speak highly enough of all the Silva Method  has done for me, both as an aid to lose weight and for other things as well. If anyone is serious about creating lasting and deep changes, I suggest you give it a try.

Try EFT and The Silva Method to Stop Yo Yo Dieting

Anyone who struggles with obesity in our fat-phobic culture understands what happens to the self worth when the scales go up.

The Weight Loss Cycle

First, you go on a diet.  You lose weight. Perhaps you lose enough weight that people  complement you. Maybe you even reach your goal.

You feel great about yourself. You look good. People give you  positive feedback. Your physician is ecstatic. You may even notice that strangers treat you better than when you were overweight.

Life is great.

 The Weight Gain Cycle

Then something happens. Perhaps quickly, or perhaps slowly, you gravitate back to your old eating habits. You exercise less, or perhaps not at all.

The excuses return.

  • I’m stressed out.
  • The weather’s depressing me.
  • It’s my birthday.
  • It’s Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, etc.
  • I got a two-for-one coupon from MacDonalds
  • My leg hurts
  • etc.

You know you’re on a slippery slope.  You resolve to “get back on track.” Starting tomorrow.

But when tomorrow comes, you can’t muster up whatever it takes to stop the dangerous spiral. As time passes, the weight returns. Regularly, you resolve to do something about it. But you seem completely, totally unable to follow through.

Your self esteem plummets. You begin to hate yourself for letting this happen. The more you hate yourself, the less motivation you have to try to get the weight off.

Eventually, you gain back all of the lost weight, and perhaps even extra pounds on top of it.  Then one day, your motivation returns. You start taking the weight off once again and your self esteem rises accordingly.

 Then the whole thing repeats.

Weight Off– High Self Esteem — Weight Loss  — Low Self Esteem — Weight Off – High Self Esteem — Weight Gain — Low Self Esteem …

And here’s the result of this vicious circle. Every time you regain the weight, your self esteem hits a new low. When you lose the weight, your self esteem goes up accordingly, but the ‘high point’ gets lower each time you complete the cycle.

In time, even your highest period of self esteem isn’t that high any more.  And your motivation to lose the weight drops accordingly. What’s the use?

Breaking the Vicious Circle

There is good news about this. I discovered the solution. I reduced my weight by more than seventy pounds and I am keeping it off.

You can stop this cycle dead in its tracks, at any point, by using a combination of the Silva Method and EFT (emotional freedom technique).  It worked miracles for me. Why not give it a try?
